ST. GEORGE — The Crimson Cliffs High School boys swim team made a strong showing at the Surf n’ Swim Invitational meet hosted by Layton High School on Saturday.

The Mustangs were the only Southern Utah school to participate in the one-day meet, which attracted teams from 10 larger high schools, three 6A schools, five 5A schools and three 4A schools. Due to limited space at the venue, spectators were not permitted to attend.

The Crimson Cliffs boys finished second overall with 336 total team points, only three points behind winner Corner Canyon’s 339. See full team results below this story.

Sophomore Josh Walker led the way for the Mustangs with first-place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.78) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1.04:82). Walker also anchored both freestyle relays for Crimson Cliffs, with the Mustangs winning both events. The same four athletes swam both races, namely Fox Challis, Ben Haws, Bronson Plumb and Walker. They won the 200 free relay in 1:35.90 and the 400 free relay in 3:32.39.

Individually, Plumb won the 100 free in a time of 54.15 seconds. Additionally, Challis took third in the 50 free, Hall placed third in the 100 fly and Sterling Cabana placed third in the 100 back.

One highlight for the Crimson Cliffs girls was Adrina Daley taking second in the 100 free with a time of 1:00.73. The Mustang girls tallied 137 total team points to finish seventh overall.

The next scheduled meet for Crimson Cliffs will be the Canyon View Invitational hosted at Southern Utah University in Cedar City on Dec. 3-4.
