Larry Ray Lanners

March 8, 1948 – Nov. 23, 2021

Larry Ray Lanners, 73, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021. 

He was born March 8, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Nicholas Lanners and Angela Bartsher. He was raised in Salem, South Dakota. After graduating from Saint Mary’s Inter-Parochial High School in 1966, he completed some college then entered the US Air Force and spent 14 months in Vietnam. 

He worked in civil service for several years in Denver, Colorado, where he met and married Jane Whitney. Together they had a beautiful daughter, Abby Marie Lanners. He later shifted careers to construction, which became his life-long occupation.

After a mutual divorce in 1983, he married his second wife, Patty Kay Neal. Together they had two sons, Nicholas Patrick and Daniel Joseph. In 1997, the family moved to St. George, Utah, where Larry worked as the general contractor for Gemstone Homes for over 20 years. In retirement, he continued in the construction industry by performing lumber take-offs for Burton Lumber, drawing home plans for Gemstone Properties and building a home for his family.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Abby Marie, his brother-in-law, Jerry Feldhaus, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Patty (Hurricane, Utah); his two sons Nicholas (Emma) (Hurricane, Utah) and DJ (Hurricane, Utah); and his four sisters Betty Feldhaus (Jerry) (Kim, David, Stephany), Bonnie Saxton (George) (Donielle), Pat Bonacker (Dave) (Laura, Lisa, Matt), and Linda Marquardt (Bob Lund) (Scott, Nicki, Joey, Katie).
