‘You truly get to create’: Experience the joy of DIY with AR Workshop, now open in St. George

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — If you’ve been searching for that perfect piece of holiday decor or a memorable gift for someone special but can’t seem to find it anywhere, maybe it’s time to get hands-on and make it yourself. Southern Utah is joining the DIY revolution, so grab your paints, brushes, supplies and head to AR Workshop St. George.

The skilled instructors at AR Workshop will teach you how to create on-trend home decor from raw materials: wood signs, canvas pillows, chunky knit blankets and so much more. Enjoy a girls night out, date night, team building event, fundraiser or birthday party for all ages.

“You truly get to create it, from the raw piece of wood or the empty canvas to the finish,” AR Workshop owner Heidi Perino said.

With hundreds of different graphics and projects, creativity and ingenuity reign supreme at AR Workshop.

“Everyone in the class doesn’t leave with the same project,” Perino said. “You leave with what you want it to be.”

Located in downtown St. George, AR Workshop hosts classes every week. A variety of instructors of all ages and interests bring their unique skill sets to workshops covering knitting, painting, woodworking, crafting and specialty gift making.

“The great thing is that you walk in and everything’s set up for you,” Perino said. “Afterward, you don’t have to clean anything up.”

AR Workshop offers classes for kids and walk-in open crafting hours. The goal is to provide a workshop that fits everyone, Perino said, adding that the shop is also available to book for private events.

Alternately, you can experience the joy of AR Workshop whenever and wherever it’s most convenient for you with DIY to-go kits. Just take the package home, and everything you need for the project will be there. Kits include detailed instructions, all the materials and pro tips to create a finished masterpiece.

AR Workshop also creates custom projects for those who are looking for a unique, personalized home decor or gift item but don’t have any time for DIY. Choose any color, style and customizations you want, and expert crafters will make it by hand at the shop, even adding retail items and gift wrapping if desired.

Shopping for something trendy and unique? Look no further than the shop’s hand-selected assortment of curated retail and gift products. You’ll find baby items, kitchen wares, bath and body essentials and much more.

Perino, a retired elementary school teacher, always had a passion for art and creativity. She partnered with Riley Martin and the Martin family to fulfill a long-held dream and finally open AR Workshop last month.

“I felt there was a gap in the market for a place where people can go to create,” she said.

In the words of Albert Einstein, “Creativity is intelligence having fun.” Perino said she brought AR Workshop to St. George with the mission of bringing the joy of DIY to everyone in the community. DIY is for people of all ages who are intentional about learning, achieving, mastering skills and creating something new.
