Cupcakes have ceased at Twentyfive Main in St. George

ST. GEORGE — A cupcake institution on Main Street in St. George’s historic downtown district has closed its doors for good.

Twentyfive Main, as the name suggests at 25 N. Main St., served its last cupcake on Nov. 27 after opening in 2008.

According to the restaurant’s website, it was started in 2008 by a team of a husband who like to cook and a wife who liked to bake. The current owners took over three years later retaining the menu and recipes.

The owners, Adam and Jason Legg, did not respond to requests for comment from St. George News. However, the eatery, which touted itself as a cafe and cupcake parlor, issued a statement on Facebook.

“After 10 years of serving the community of St. George, we have decided to close,” the statement read. “We have made some incredible memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Our family has chosen to pursue a different venture, however, we will always cherish the memories we have made together.”

The restaurant was known for its cupcakes, touting that it baked more than 100 per day, but also served salads, pastas, deli dishes and pizzas. It was also a gathering place downtown, for many a St. George equivalent of the Central Perk cafe seen on “Friends.” Like Phoebe Buffay, people could find locals picking up a guitar and singing on a stage in front of the cafe’s main window.

As of the end of 2020, Twentyfive Main had 22 employees.

In the statement announcing the closing of the restaurant, it was announced that the space will not be empty for long.

“A new group will be taking over the Twentyfive Main space with a new concept.”

Whether that concept still includes cupcakes remains to be seen.
