Dave Nelson

Nelson, Dave(October 6, 1949 – February 4, 2014)

Dave Nelson, 64, passed away peacefully Tuesday February 4th, surrounded by his family. Dave was born to Rees and Fern Worthington Nelson, in Payson Utah, on October 6th, 1949.   He was the third of five children, and the unexpected twin. He graduated from Payson High School in 1967.

Dad was called to serve in The Australia West Mission.  He started college after his mission; it was during this time that he met the eternal love of his life, Madge Wilson. They started dating and on Feb 15, he told her he loved her, and they were married 3 months later in the Manti LDS temple on June 14, 1974.  Their love is the eternal love we all hope for. He was a true example of how a man should love his wife.

They immediately started a family, even though they only had $2 to their name. Family was always the most important thing to him. He was blessed with 3 boys and 2 girls. He was so proud of his children and never missed an opportunity go by where he could tell a stranger how proud he was of them, and their accomplishments.

He was the kindest man who would drop anything he was doing to help you.  He could instantly fill a room with joy with his smile and jokes.

He always had multiple “projects” going.  No matter how hard he tried, he could never remove the evidence of his hard work from his hands. Dad has an unparalleled work ethic.

Dave spent the majority of his life working on cars, but the thing that brought him the most joy was teaching. He went back to school at age 58 and received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree, and was able to achieve that dream. He felt fulfilled when he impacted the life of his students. He would be there to help them succeed, and comfort them when they failed. Dave is survived by his wife, Madge (Wilson), His children, Larry Christian (Ellen), Timothy David (Katie), Tiffany Tara (Steven), Cody Shawn (Nicole), and Kindi Nicole (Justin), his grandchildren Olympia, Penelope, Gregory, Mya, Jakob, Kaycee, Callie; his siblings, Jerry (Lynda), Dale (Clarice), Kent, Vickie (Larry), and his puppies Luke and Leia.  He is preceded in death by his parents Rees and Fern Nelson, and his mother in law Callie Wilson (Stevenson) and Rusty.
