KANE COUNTY – Kane County officers assisted the Arizona Department of Public Safety in pursuing two men through Kane County Wednesday afternoon after the chase left Arizona and entered Utah.
The chase entered Utah on state Route 89 in Kane County, near Big Water and Page, Arizona, according to a Utah Highway Patrol press release issued Thursday. Reasons for the pursuit were unknown at the time the press release was issued.
The Utah officers were informed the men in the vehicle were possibly armed.
As the pursuit progressed, officers reported that the occupants of the vehicle were throwing items from their vehicle.
Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to spike its tires near mile marker 55, near Johnson Canyon in Kane County.
The two men in the vehicle were noncompliant with officers, the press release said, and were barricaded in their vehicle for a short time.
“However, a coordinated and combined effort by officers from Kane County, Kanab City, Big Water Marshal’s office and UHP were able to safely take the two into custody,” the press release said.

I was stuck in this for over 2 hours. There were probably 20 emergency vehicles, a helicopter, fire engine and ambulance. Highway 89 was shut down in both directions. A real mess!
