ST. GEORGE — George, Streetfest on Main returns Aug. 7 with a fresh lineup of performers, a George Mustache Contest, expansion onto Tabernacle Street and a new total tapas menu at the Jazz Garden.
The event’s signature Precision Hearing Main Street Concert will feature three Utah-based bands, including Southern Utah’s own Brickwalker. Additional bands include Quiet Oaks of Salt Lake City and headliner Holy Water Buffalo of Heber City.
Those interested in participating in the George Mustache Contest should don their best mustache and report at the Main Stage at 7:45 p.m. Crowd voting will take place at 8 p.m. to determine finalists in three categories: Best Real ‘Stache, Best Fake ‘Stache and Best Cowboy ‘Stache.
Up to seven finalists will then be invited to participate in Chocolate Mustache Milkshake Contest sponsored by Bear Paw Diner. The contestant to collect the biggest milkshake mustache on their mustache will determine the George Mustache Contest Grand Champion.
George, Streetfest will extend onto Tabernacle Street between the roundabout and 100 East. To create more space for the sizable crowds attending the event, the Simister Ortho George Jr. Village will move to Tabernacle Street.

Additionally, St. George City will offer a two-for-one coupon for rides on the Carousel at Town Square, and Cappelettis and Judd’s Store will remain open to support the downtown, after hours event. Carousel coupons are located on the Passport to the City and are available at George’s Corner and the Customs Tent at the event.
For keeping cool, event misting stations will be placed on Main Street and Ancestor Square. Additionally, George spray bottles will be offered by Stapley Pharmacy to the first 400 families to attend. All night long, a culinary water bottle refill station will be available at Zion Park.

Jazz Garden
Zion Brewing Company Jazz Garden is located at the Ancestor Square Courtyard.
Live entertainment will feature house band, West Coast Jazz, along with a variety of entertainers. At 6:30 p.m., the St. George Slam Poetry Team will offer a final community performance before traveling to national competition Aug. 10.
Jazz Garden guest performer this month is internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Mami Hope Dalton. At 8:15 p.m., Dalton will lead off with a variety of her favorite piano jazz tunes, including original and solo pieces. The last set of the night will include a reunion performance of all original members of West Coast Jazz Players.
New to the Jazz Garden in August are two interactive education programs, Jazz Appreciation and Vino 101. Jazz Appreciation begins at 7 p.m. and will entertain and teach attendees all about jazz music, its history and etiquette. At 8 p.m., the St. George Wine Club will host Vino 101, a 15-minute crash course and look into the broad culture of wine and wine tasting.
Four beer selections will be served by Zion Brewing Company of Springdale and two wine options by Iron Gate Winery of Cedar City. Drink servings this month will be paired with tapas (appetizer plates) served by Painted Pony and Benja’s Thai & Sushi.
Zion Brewing Company Jazz Garden is sponsored by Etched Magazine and is a venue of George Streetfest on Main. The Jazz Garden offers an outdoor, live performance venue for adults 21 and over. Identification is required.

Local artists and/or performers interested in applying for the Supporting Artists with Vision event scholarship by Richens Eye Center should call 435-773-0781. The scholarship offers street accommodations, including tent and vendor fee, for two artists each month wishing to promote their work.
