ST. GEORGE — Construction work has caused a major traffic backup to develop along Interstate 15 between Mesquite, Nevada, and the Virgin River Gorge, and a load of honeybees are reportedly caught up in the congestion.

Just after 2 p.m. Wednesday, traffic was reportedly backed up for 11 miles, Arizona Department of Public Safety Sgt. John Bottoms said, adding that motorists are moving very slowly past road paving crews in the area.
“A commercial vehicle hauling bees is stuck in the backup,” Bottoms added. “Troopers report bees (are) everywhere.”
Troopers are reporting that bees have found a way out from underneath a tarp covering the load of honeybees and are buzzing the cars surrounding the commercial truck, Bottoms said.
Traffic delays are due to a 13-mile pavement improvement project along I-15 from the Nevada State line to Arizona Exit 8.
The $10.4 million project includes paving the 13-mile stretch of roadway from mileposts 0 to 13, replacing a bridge barrier, sealing the existing bridge deck and installing new guardrail.

Your endless trolling of St. George News comments is not interesting or pertinent at all.
Spoke with a couple who got stuck in that – along with their trailer and horse…the bees were stinging the horses and the horses were going nuts inside the trailer. Bees were chasing everyone and several people got stung in the middle of the traffic jam. I took 91 through Shivwitz reservation and the going was fine – until I got to the road work on 91 in Ivins. Geez…only 2 ways around the gorge and both being worked on…great planning!
Dear St George News. just for the record let it show that redrock doesn’t like me ! I’m going to lose a lot of sleep over that. ! …..
NOT REALLY. !!!!!!!! L0L. !
My comment was not aimed at you. My comment was aimed at ladybugavenger for the incessant trolling. And, I would not say that I don’t “like” ladybugavenger – or really anyone who posts online because I don’t know them. I’m fairly sure that most people are nicer (and perhaps less stupid) when they’re offline.
