ST. GEORGE — Two occupants and a family pet escaped virtually unscathed Friday after a “pretty significant rollover,” according to police.

A black Chevrolet Trailblazer was heading south on Interstate 15 near mile marker 46 when the driver lost control of the vehicle at 4:30 p.m. The car rolled into the median where both occupants were able to get themselves out of the vehicle.

Neither of the occupants was transported to the hospital. The dog sustained some minor injuries.

Trooper Dan Nielson was first on the scene and said witnesses saw a pickup truck hauling an ATV trailer travel from the right to left lane, which may have caused the Trailblazer to lose control.

The pickup fled the scene but witnesses who followed the vehicle were able to help Washington County officials stop the vehicle involved near mile marker 18, he said.

Officials were trying to untangle the Chevrolet from the cable barrier at around 5:45 p.m.

This report is based on statements from police and may not contain the full scope of findings.
