IVINS — A man hiking in the hills behind the Tuacahn Center for the Arts slipped and fell just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, requiring Life Flight and Search and Rescue teams to bring him out.
“Emergency dispatch center received a report of a 70-year-old male hiker who had fallen and suffered some contusions and abrasions,” Washington County Sheriff’s Lt. David Crouse said.
“He was conscious and alert, so Washington County Search and Rescue volunteers responded along with the Ivins Fire Department personnel. They also had Life Flight respond for ground assistance. They were able to retrieve the patient, get him out and he was transported by ambulance.”
The teams met in the area behind the Tuacahn main stage, bringing 4-wheel-drive vehicles, OHVs, and UTVs to search for and transport the patient upon his return. He was finally brought out just before 1 p.m. by rescuers.
The man was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George with non-life-threatening injuries. Units from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Ivins-Santa Clara Fire/Rescue, and Washington County Search and Rescue were on the scene
